Interaction
Community cohesion contributes to your school's improvement by generating and accumulating social capital. This involves promoting cohesion between different groups in society even if they do not predominate in your locality. Interaction is already a very well established feature of many Northumberland schools.
The following areas of activity are all promote that principle, joined by the over-arching theme of positive interaction with difference:
- School linking
- Pupil voice and school council activity (to gather pupils' views and to involve pupils in decision making and school improvement)
- Consultation with parents, staff, pupils, governors, local community groups and hard to reach groups to shape the development of the school
- Extended Services
- Equity of learner outcomes ensuring excellence for all
- Children's rights and human rights
- English as an additional language and overcoming cultural and language barriers
