Racist incidents

circle

Since 2002 all schools must have a written Race Equality Policy to comply with the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.  As part of the general duty of this legislation schools are required to comply with Local Authority procedures for recording, reporting and responding to racist incidents.

This area of the website sets out Northumberland Local Authority's revised procedure with accompanying guidance.  Schools must ensure that they follow the procedure, set out in section 2 from September 2008, and have in place effective measures to respond to racist incidents when they occur.
